Peru Shorts

Experience six powerful short films from Peru, all shot on location across the country’s vibrant landscapes and urban settings, bringing authentic Peruvian storytelling to Florida audiences for the first time. The “Peru Shorts” program presents América, Justice for Katherine Gomez, Bus, Miguel, Q-Pop, and Victoria—a compelling mix of fiction and documentary exploring human resilience, social justice, family bonds, cultural identity, Indigenous expression, and the unpredictable moments that define our lives.

Among these gripping films, América, Miguel, Justice for Katherine Gomez, Q-Pop, and Victoria are premiering for the first time in Florida, offering a rare opportunity to discover fresh Peruvian voices before they reach wider audiences. Bus, selected for the Miami Film Festival in April 2026, adds to the program’s prestige with its sharp social commentary on everyday Lima life. From Miguel’s emotional reckoning with an absent father in 1990s Lima, to Justice for Katherine Gomez’s harrowing documentary recounting a young woman’s tragic public attack through her mother’s eyes, Bus’s explosive nine-minute drama about a refused seat on a crowded rush-hour bus, Q-Pop’s dynamic portrayal of a Quechua youth using pop music as a form of cultural pride and resistance, and Victoria’s intimate story of a woman seeking to reconnect with her deceased sister, each film delivers an unforgettable emotional impact.

The following short films are confirmed:
